Whats the best way of lowering polys?? I have a model Im working on at the moment, in total, including all subtools, I have 12 million polys. Using decimation master…I’ve tried lowering the polys. but, it doesn’t seem to work… I set the decimation scale to 90%, after pre processing, and then decimating, it only knocked off 2 million polys??.. Yet it was set at 90%…what am i doing wrong?? Any advice please would be gratefully recieved… thanks alot for reading this… hope to hear from someone.
I would bring it down to a lower percentage if you want it do lower the poly count. Also remember that you can keep running the decimation master again and again on the same piece until you get it down to where you want it.
the percentage on 90% would mean you will have about 90% of your current amount of poly’s on the new model. So if you want it drastically decreased, you need to pick a value like 20% , try a few out till you get to the point were you notice too much loss of detail and you can push it quite far with decimation master.
Retopo if you plan on animating, you will lose textures when using decimation master though I believe.
