re sym issues

Hi guys

heres a little bug bear thats been plaguing me since I installed ZB4R2.

my symmetry functions dont always work, usually on standard polymeshes built from z spheres but also on dynameshes. I can be working on one side and then zoom out only to find it hasnt replicated the changes properly.

I used to correct this using smart resym… but it just dosent work anymore. heres a pic of an average result. bits all over the shop… very irritating.

the end result is that on objects like this I just have to start again, once it loses its symetry response it never manages to regain it.

hopefully someone has an answer. heres other details that may help.

  1. I have tried uninstalling zbrush and doing a complete reinstal
  2. I have tried with normal and smart resym
  3. Ive tried with and without masks.
  4. Ive cleared all masks first before trying to find the centre.
  5. its not just liimited to resym, its also in the draw functions.
  6. Im on windows 7, 64 bit, 8 cores (2 quad multi threads) 24gb ram, high spec GPU.

all help appreciated.

thanks
Steve

Try ‘Mirror And Weld’ in Tool > Geometry. The good side has to be on the left side of the axis.

thanks, that works well.

so anyone got any idea why symmetry stops working in the first place?

I’m running into the very same problems. a temporary solution will be to smooth with a low z-intensity. This will usually fix the wierd artifacts without taking away too much of your sculpted detail.

I’d still like to see that tool work as it should. Might be a good idea to report this issue as a bug.
