“Ray”-a digital sculpture; a modest tribute from my side to Satyajit Ray on the occasion of his 105th birth anniversary. In “Ray,” I endeavour to distil the austere intellectualism of Satyajit Ray into a sculptural idiom where attenuated planes and eroded surfaces intimate a life of vigilant observation rather than mere physiognomic fidelity. His cinematic grammar, measured, humanist, and unseduced by spectacle, resonates here through a restrained modelling of form, wherein silence, weight, and gaze become primary conveyors of meaning.
My praxis inclines towards psychological excavation; I deliberately abrade polish, privileging textural dissonance and structural asymmetry to articulate an interiority that eludes superficial likeness.
I follow Ray’s perceptual ethos because it dignifies nuance over ornament,an alignment with my own compulsion to sculpt cognition itself, rendering thought as palpable matter rather than decorative form.
