Hey buddy. Looking really cool. Nice idea. Love the concept and walk pose you have going. Keep it up :+1:

Intervain: hey mag! -ahh! that’s right, you got polish roots right? -no, i don’t speak polish myself. i found this critter in a folklore and mythology encyclopedia, and then i read some more of it/him on wikipedia (searched for folklore creatures).
mid/east-european folklore got some damn cool critters.
ha, you are actually right about the “gollum” comparison. didn’t go for it though.

roger: thanks.

SIWEB: thanks simon. really glad you like him.

brettSinclair: mr. brett. thanks. hope you soon figure out what to do and get started;)

euge: thanks buddy. glad you like it. i still haven’t completely decided wether i do the final render in maya or in zbrush (similar to “arctic”).

until i figure that out here’s some updates on him.

stumpf: hey ralf! all good here. the summer has kicked in and i still got a few hours here and there for stuff like this.
really glad you like it. it means a great deal. your little critters always make me smile.
edit: oh! btw. thanks for doing all those kick a** mat caps. i use them all the time.

I’ve had this backstory slowly evolving for this dude for quite some time now.

Thought I might be fun for you to get an idea of what he is and all.

If you look up a “skrzat” at wikipedia or some enclypedia, it would probally tell you it’s a creature of human body with bird arms and legs, from polish folklore.

It lives on farms helping out the peasants by takeing care of the animals. But he is a stopper little creature aswell. If the folks on the farm didn’t bring him presents and food offerings he would bring unfortune to them.

So basically something like a gnome or other little house imps.

So for my skrzat, I thought of this ancient war between gnomes and skrzats, of whom to help out the humans and gain recognition and foods.

This poor fella stands back on a table in an abandoned old mucky farm. He’s been keep prisoner (-or personal pet of the gnome king) of the gnomes for centuries.

They cut of his legs so he wouldn’t escape easily.

Lastly he escaped and are now back at his old farm, to find it empty…

Great work on the concept, modeling and pose Rasmus! It feels very balanced.

A few tips if you allow me. Accentuate the fold between the ribcage and the pelvis to make the twist and the compression more obvious. When you have such a generous pose, you have to use these spots to add accents. Try to find spots where you can push things a bit more.
You should sculpt the eyeball so we can see the direction he is looking. That’s the fist thing a person notices.
Try a dramatic lighting. Maybe with long and dark shadows across his forms.

love it, great design :+1:

Dayum!!! that is some killer detail !!

Excellent…looking forward to the next update :D:D

OMG!!! Such HUGE pictures! Takes forever for me to scroll through! :grimacing:

. Looking great ras. I love the detail on the table. very cool. I think the mugs are a weee bit too thick though. I agree bout the crits from undoz.

Awesome story by the way. Thats a really good way to build up a character.
Congrats my friend his looking awesome.

just awesome!!

nice work

Hey, I visited your website this morning - you updated it haha! Loads of new stuff, the film work looks great, especially the ghost lady with the long tail-y thing. Nice to see the grey shaded model. And those HB2 puppets…still think it’s the best part of the film.

Also saw the above creature. Something about seeing the shafts of the feathers under the skin make me wince - so congratulations on that  Tomorrow, when I get to work, I’m going to abuse the bandwidth and download the .rar tutes.

undoz: hey andrei! thanks alot for the useful crits. i’ll be sure to keep them in mind when working more on it.

ncollings: thanks nicolas. finally someone did “cpt. damio”. he deserves it. hehehe

Tyrone M: hehehe… thanks tyrone. hope it wouln’t take long before i get back to him.

brettSinclair: hahaahaha… bastard. hehe. thanks alot. i’ll give them mugs some more loving. hobo is so damn cool.

nellement: hey dude. thanks.

arunzb: thanks.

piek: hahaha… yeah! thought it was about time to give it a facelift and add some more work, too.
hope you didn’t get disapointed with them videos. heheh

well… here’s a little something else.
dick turpin head concept. actually more of a “clay brush” study. haven’t really used it all that much. shame, really, becaue it’s so cool.

Looking awesome. Love the colour choices. I pictured him more chicken plucked coloured. but this is cool too :D. It would also be cool too see goose bumps all over his back and arms. like the turkey you buy at the supermarket. Haha. Just an idea.

I think pics could be bigger. Too see more detail;).

great character and pose! - a very unique design
