Random questions

Hello I’m not sure if these are bugs or not pixologic makes things different then everyone els regardless if its good or bad, So I’m not sure if I just do it wrong or not.
So if anyone can help with any of the questions below, I would appreciate it.

If I have my object zoomed in, so it covers the entire workspace, and tries to move, rotate and scale, by pressing outside the frame. 50% of the time the objects disappears from the screen and I have to repeat the action, and then it works. I don’t have to recenter the object I just press outside the frame again and the object then appears at the same position scale etc as before. Why didn’t it work the first time? (I have a wacom tablet)

Another strange thing I discovered is that I have to change subtool before my hotkeys starts to work, and ctrl+Z only works on random occasions, hardly at all. Does anyone know of a hack or secret key combination to make it work?

Clone Tool for pollypaint, how do I do that? As far as I can tell the clone tool in Spotlightonly works on texture maps, am I wrong?
My current solution is to GoZ to Modo, but its no fun when the file takes 10 min to save.

If I have a texture in Spotight/Lightbox and I want to paint the texture in its original scale, how do I do that?

Does anyone know how to get a warning from zbrush when I save a file that is to large for Zbrush to open?. I don’t want to check in the folder every time I save, if it is 2 gb or 4 gb.

I can answer a couple of your questions.

Regarding Ctrl+Z undo problem:

  1. Go to the Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\HotKeys folder and open the StartupHotkeys.txt file in Notepad.

  2. Add the following lines to the end of the file:

[EDIT:UNDO,634] // Ctrl+Z

[EDIT:TOOL:UNDO,634] // Ctrl+Z

[EDIT:REDO,890] // Ctrl+Shift+Z

[EDIT:TOOL:REDO,890] // Ctrl+Shift+Z

  1. Save the file and restart ZBrush.

Regarding Spotlight Clone Tool:

There is a video on this in ZClassroom Spotlight Tuorials

Tanx the Ctrl+Z thing helped.

But the clone tool video only shows how to use the tool on textures and not pollypaint. I guess I could use the tool if I covert the pollypaint to texture, clone the texture, export the texture. Load the texture in to lightbox. Edit the texture save it again, and then import it one more time, asign it to the object and finally convert it to pollypaint. But that just silly there has to regular clone tool for pollypaint hidden some where so I can clone in 3d space from the object itself or from a texturefile.

Or you can go to Texture menu, do GrabDoc and use that in Spotlight.

Dont think that will work. I still have to load the 2d texture file since the pollypaint is not a texturefile that I can paint on, if you know what I mean

It would be a gr8 ide’e if i wanted to clone from the pollypaint object to a texture. But since zb does a copy of the texture instead of editing the actuall file u still need to clone import export asign etc
