Radial symmetry on parts of a mesh?

Hi there,
if possible, id like to set my pivot point for radial symmetry editing
to parts of my mesh. For example i have this mesh:

and would like to apply some radial holes/cuts to certain areas of the armor.
My pivot point is off right now, because i moved the mesh in the process and
have a hard time defining a pivot point to an area, so that its not in a wrong angle
of the surface. Is this possible without splitting the mesh into subtools?

You can limit to X,Y or Z axis. The action will take place where your curser is if there is geometry there. HTH

Yes, but since my pivot point is not anymore correct, i dont know really how to set it up for a certain area.

Tool:Deformation:Unify
Then there is a button for Local symmetry.

can’t you use “offset” in the deformation palette to correct your pivot point? or perhaps i’m not understanding that part.

if your pivot point is off center, then normal symmetry should be off too. nudge the mesh back in the right direction until regular symmetry is even again, then your pivot point will be centered.

Hmm, let see. I want to use a radial symmetry on one of the elements, like marked here:

Because the whole mesh is one tool, without parts i thought if its possible to
align my pivot point directly in the center of the marked elements.

You can use Transform>Set Pivot (and clear Pivot) to set the pivot to the center of the visible mesh portion. However, symmetry will be limited to the selected axis so for radial symmetry to work well you may need to align the mesh on a particluar axis first.

 Maybe you could modify that Reset macro you coded to help in this situation?
