“Rabindranath Tagore” - Digital Sculpture by Surajit Sen

My Digital Sculpture “Rabindranath Tagore” is conceived as a solemn homage to Rabindranath Tagore on his 165th Birth Anniversary, a thinker who transformed World Literature through poetry, philosophy, music and humanism; as Tagore once wrote, “Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.”
Through the weathered contours of the face, meditative gaze and sculptural drapery, I attempted to embody the intellectual gravitas and spiritual melancholy that permeated Tagore’s existence, presenting him not merely as a literary titan, but as an eternal contemplative presence suspended beyond time.
My work style instinctively gravitates towards psychological stillness, tactile realism and emotive monumentality; I often sculpt figures whose silence speaks louder than expression, revealing my fascination with memory, mortality, introspection and the metaphysical dignity concealed within human fragility.
In this sculpture, I wished to capture the profound serenity and philosophical depth that made Tagore a universal voice of civilisation, the creator of Gitanjali, whose literary consciousness united the East and the West with rare poetic luminosity and enduring human compassion.
