Quicker way to put pores onto a head? (Tiling?)

Hi,
currently when I’m adding high-level displacement to a head, things like pores and fine wrinkles;
-I’ll go into ‘Projection Master’ mode.
-Select my ‘pore’ alpha
-Use the single layer brush with a drag-rectangle stroke.
-Drag a stroke onto the head mesh. Activate the gyro, then adjust my scale and Zadd intensity until the pores look just right.
-Then using the snapshot feature, I’ll drag the stroke all over the head putting pores in the right areas.
-Once applied, I’ll go back with a blur brush to tweak.

This can take for ever! Especially if the scale of my stroke is small compared to the size of the head.

Can anyone suggest a faster method for applying an alpha to the head?

With my alpha, I’ve tried a few different bushes (Paint brush, Roller brush) with a few different stroke types (dots, spray.) But these don’t seem to do it.
Any ideas?

If you haven’t yet tried it, check out the very powerful, little used, DragDot.

Responds well to infinite combinations of Z Intensity, DrawSize and flipping between ZAdd and ZSub.

Gives you precise placement for each stroke by clicking and dragging, or buildup thru quick-clicking anywhere on the surface.

Hit Replay Last button once or more to intensify the last placement.

Use the Alpha rotate, flip H and flip V to vary the grain.

Thanks Svengali,
I tried the DragDot out last evening. You’re right, it’s great. Aside from being unable to scale the alpha in either H or V direction, which I rarely do for laying down pores, it does everything I’ve been doing before -but oh so much faster.

'thanks

Also, if your alpha is tileable you can use the Deco brush with the Tile Texture modifier active.
