I´m missing the very useful masking options for parametric models in 4R4. Is the mask row and col funktion removed?
You don’t need deactivate if you upgrade from 4r3. If your activation fails, or the code isn’t generated
maybe you upgrade from version that was before 4r3, so you need to deactivate that version first:
ZPlugin >> Deactivation >> Web Deactivetion
If nothing work try to contact supprt trough Pixologic.com >> Support >> Contact Support
This may sound like a stupid question, but anyone knows how I can disable undo history? I’d like my ctrl+z shortcut back. I know undo history looks like a cool idea, but really? Ctrl+z is like second nature to me whenever I need to undo stuff.
Ctrl+Z will still undo.

Maybe, nobody has tested “deactivation” on ZBrush 4R4 so far.

Therefore, I want to check whether deactivation of ZBrush 4R4 is successful at a public space.
I have duplicated this. Web Deactivation launches the Pixologic home page instead. I will bring it to the attention of the development team. If you are going to reinstall 4R4 on the same computer, you do not need to deactivate first. If you are moving 4R4 to a new computer, the workaround is to do Web Deactivation anyway (to disable it). Next, install it on the new machine and do Web Activation. If you get a message that you have activated too many times, use the View Activation History button to then check off the lost activation and submit the form, automatically creating a Support ticket to fix your serial number. Turnaround time is usually within one hour during normal business hours.
Click on Tool > Masking > Mask By Alpha and those options will appear.

I am having the same problem. Mac Pro 10.7.4. In looking in the folder path it shows an objIn but no objOut. the first step of the Qmesh is to output an OBJ and I wonder if something is happening there. Something that might be related, yesterday Qmesh worked fine on my laptop (10.7.4) and then today it was acting weird, it would successfully remesh but I would get a different model that I remeshed yesterday- e.g. I remeshed a jacket for a character model and then today remeshed the character and what I got was the jacket. I am guessing that it imported the last objOut from yesterday but for some reason today it is not exporting the obj file correctly on either of my macs.
Not sure this helps but I thought I would add it to the three or four posts on this that have gone unanswered
Can anyone else change the default start up material in Z4R4? I hate redwax and have always replaced it with another start up material so I don’t make my eyes cave in with every model I load.
Nothing seems to work anymore.
Drawing said material on my canvas and saving that as my start up doc doesn’t remove it.
I can’t find red wax to override it now either…not that it would matter as it is being loaded with my start up doc I believe.
Everything else works like a charm, UIcolors, Hotkeys, Doc size and Range, Custom UI, etc.
Can anyone save me? Am I just dumb and forgetting a step (probably). Thanks guys.

I turned off Norton to get the installer downloaded and run.
I submitted a ticket to Norton to advise them their software was misflagging the installer as a virus. Through a series of email exchanges over the last several days, they have requested that I send them: a) my download link, login info and my serial # (not gonna do it), b) info from the contents of the file after their software has examined it (their software deletes the file and leaves nothing behind so that’s not possible), c) an email with the entire 629MB file attached (not gonna do that either), or if the file is more than 10MB, d) I should split it into 63 separate files and send it to them that way (not gonna do that either). The people maning the helm of their support resolution seem to be idiots with blinders on.

I currently have Zbrush 4R3 and 4R4 installed on the the same laptop which is running Windows XP Pro with an Intel Dual Core Processor and 2 gigs of RAM.
For some reason, I can Dynamesh high resolution meshes with no issue in 4R3, but the same meshes in 4R4 give me a message about not having enough memory available to perform the operation. I should note that in both programs the memory options are set at the default 256 MB. As an experiment, I tried dynameshing a simple ball shape at the lowest resolution (128) in 4R4 and am receiving the same message.
Any ideas what’s going on?
I’ve installed z4r4 but have many of the new brushes missing. Should I reinstall?
The tutorials were made with a beta version. The release version had a slight change where several brushes were combined into the IMM_Curve brush. Simply select that brush and press M. You’ll see a pop-up with not one, but two strap choices, a couple tracks and several other options.
so I did a couple of tests and tried to lower the poly count on the model I was having issues with to see if that worked. The original model was 8 million polys and I lowered it one level to 2 million. no problem qmeshing on both my macbook pro and my mac pro. I didn’t see a max polygon count in the documentation but maybe there is a max poly count, the question is what is it? Its more than 2 million and less than 8 million.
I hope this helps others who are having the same issue.
I can’t export jpeg files and TransposeSmartMask is not working.
1. Jpg export tested to work correctly. Please include more info so we can reproduce the problem.
2. Smart Transpose: Please verify that the ‘Brush:Modifiers:Brush Modifier’ is set to 100, if not, then set the value to 100 and re-save the brush.

After my first question I received a message from the pixologic support, asking me to do a action in Terminal.app.
I did so and replied the result (it´s still not working, our problem seems to me it has something to do with the Mac file path) and now waiting for another answer.
But: they do know about this problem.
Maybe we need a bit patience, I think, after a new release they have a lot of things to fix.
