Questions & Troubleshooting for ZBrush 2019

@xexex

Dynamesh preserving PGs when Polypaint is off? - no idea, but I suppose it was part of Dynamesh system from the start. (I’ve been using ZBrush since 4R6 and I’m pretty sure it was like this already.

Dynamesh substracting spotlight? - 2019, pretty sure of that. I didn’t see it advertised as a feature though. Maybe it’s a side effect of the new Spotlight 2.0.

Hi guys!
I just got a positive hit from Windows defender on this: file: C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\Maya
etcat
c.exe and its been deleted. What the deal with this thing and what should I do now?

Cheers!

Hi Mealea,

See this explanation from support. https://support.pixologic.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/215/85/netcat--antivirus-software-reports-a-threat

Thanks ZBer!!! And thank you!
I dont have maya so the loss of this thing doesn’t matter right?

That’s correct.

[COLOR=#ff0000][FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]Application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]error on a Surface Pro 4 with vigilantly updated Win 10. Pretty much bought & use this thing for ZBrush so there's no contorted Pandora's nest of malware or third party virus checkers. [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]As an obedient user, I followed Pixologic's upgrade instructions of running the Pixologic Deactivation Manager in my 2018 folder to immediately get hit with the warning [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]![PixDeactManager.jpg|858x310](upload://bd0NPRx5kYOOMwk4SlOQ3NZEfBL.jpeg)

This brings us to the Pixo Knowledge Base to troubleshoot the issue. Repair all my VisualC++ libraries? OK. Reboot. Same error. Wipe and reinstall those libraries? Um, OK. Reboot. Same error. Moving down the list, I’m instructed to run scans from the command prompt.

Reboot. Error about not being able to login to Win 10 with Windows Hello. Fantastic. Run Deactivation Manager. No dice. No difference if I tried to run this as administrator.

[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]All these hoops I've jumped through and now the Knowlege Base suggests I now wipe my entire drive as last measure??? [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]I've read through 9 pages in this support thread and have yet to see if I'm just allowed to wipe out ZB2018, deactivate the license from the Pixo Store, install ZB2019 and enter the license. Moving forward for future ZBrush releases, can we do it THIS way in lieu of messing around with a problematic (for some of us) Deactivation Manager?

I successfully upgrade from ZBrush 2018 to 2019, however when installing GoZ for C4D I get the error:

“An error occurred during installation of GoZ for Cinema4D.
One possible cause could be unsufficient (sic) permissions to write to Cinema4D installation folder.
Please run ZBrush as an administrator and try again to install GoZ for Cinema4D!”

I have done the following to try to troubleshoot this:

  1. I have run ZBrush as administrator and done a “Force Reinstall” of GoZ for C4D. - results in the same error.
  2. I have disabled all anti-virus software and done the above (#1) again - results in the same error.
  3. Reset permissions on the MAXON folder (in C:Program Files) to allow full, unrestricted access to all users and applications and repeated step #1 again - results in the same error.

In all cases GoZ will launch C4D, but will not export the model to C4D - just opens an empty document.

Any thoughts on a solution?

Hey guys,

I’m getting a bug now where make boolean mesh simply isn’t doing anything. It says union remeshing in progress but then it simply stops. Has any one else encountered this in 2019? Thanks!

Kyle

Hi there, partially reporting/partially thanking for a bug/feature respectively:
Encountered an increase in “unrecoverable” Recovered_###.ZPR files:
(Documents\ZBrushData2019\QuickSave)

Most often occurs after using GoZ->3DS Max.
However also a potential work around with a new 2019 feature:

  • After using GoZ on large project files (200mb + / 20K+million points, 50+subtool count, 2+ tools) crashes occur more frequently
  • On re-loading the Quicksave > Recovered_###.ZPR file, project crashes on open
  • On attempting to open new Recoverd file, starts generating a loop of “unrecoverable” recovery files on open
  • Workaround: Seems that we can now get out of that loop with the Tool>Load Tools From Project option.
    LoadToolsFromProject.PNG

Thanks for this feature - it seems like it’ll do the trick for now!

I installed Zbrush 2019 and activated it with the offline activation because I’ve the login loop issue. I can’t activate my Zbrush to keyshot bridge for the same problem (login loop). When I try the offline activation procedure the system say: Sorry, Zbrush to keyshot bridge license is required. But I’ve it.

For the login loop:

  1. Make sure that your antivirus software isn’t blocking cookies.
  2. Make sure that you’re using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome on Windows, or Safari on Mac.
  3. Try clearing your browser cache.
  4. Also make sure that your Pixologic ID only has one email address on it. That email address must be the one that your license is under. You can edit your Pixologic ID by logging in at https://support.pixologic.com and then clicking the Pixologic ID button.

If you still have trouble, please submit a Support ticket.

Problem solved, thanks. I managed to install with the offline activation. My login loop remains even after all the operations you suggest.Cattura.JPG

Is there currently a way to get camera import/export via FBX working with Maya, Houdini or Blender?

I tried all kinds of settings with different software but aside from focal length values it didn’t work.

An option to type in exact transformation values would be very useful.

Hi Hendrik,

Are you on Windows or MacOS? There’s currently a problem with camera import on MacOS. For Windows, some imported FBX files produce unexpected results which we are looking into. Export is fine for both platforms.

I have upgraded from 2018 to 2019 and now when I click Goz it points me to !:/users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZBrush/Scripts/GoZ_ExportFromZBrush. I have the app installed on my MacHD drive, can I change the path?

Hi Dogwalker,

Can you show a screenshot of the message you are getting? I don’t understand why you would be getting that path.

Can a mouse wheel be bound to the subtool list scroll bar somehow?

No, I don’t think so.

Thanks!
good to know, one way or the other!

I finally decided to install V2019 on my Wacom Mobile Studio Pro. I have 2018 and 2019 running fine on my main desktop computer. Both are running Windows 10.

After I deactivated V2018 I got a message that it is deactivated, but that there is still an active version on this computer. There is nothing active on the MS pro, but when I look at my licenses online I see that I have two seats active- the MS Pro license is still shown as being active. Any chance the V2019 install would work anyway? Or do I need to submit a ticket to get the V2018 license fixed?

Thanks

Both ZBrush 2018 and 2019 use the same serial number. What I would recommend is to use the deactivation feature on My Licenses to remove the MS Pro activation. Then install and activate 2019 on that computer. If you wish you could then activate ZBrush 2018 again, which the system will allow since it’s the same computer.

Thank you, all set now!
