I don’t believe that I am exceeding my license limit. I made a ticket ( under ZBrush Support, and marked as critical) yesterday, but no response yet. Do you know if they look at tickets on the weekend?
I’m not sure if they check during the weekend.
I wonder if resetting your system settings defaults on your computer will help.
Well, I’m fresh out of advice.
Sorry, and I hope this is resolved quickly for you
Is it possible to be in full screen mode and have the window stop right above the taskbar? (currently the taskbar overlays in front of ZBrush. I also don’t want to hide the taskbar/have it dynamically appear/hide. Thank you.
Even in Windowed mode the menus on the right hand side are cut off. Is it possible to not have them do that?

Only way, so far, that I’ve found to do that is to use the Maximize button to put the UI into resizable mode and then just drag the corners out but the program doesn’t remember that upon being restarted. Yea it’s been an annoyance for me too all these years! You KIND OF get used to it but not really! LOL
Hi Yourname942,
You can resize the ZBrush window by setting the Document>Width and Document>Height sliders to the size you want and then pressing Document>Resize while holding the ALT key.
Attached is a macro that makes the process easy and you can assign a hotkey to the button if you want. ***You may need to adjust the values in the macro so the Document height and width are set to what you want (open the file in Notepad)***.
Save the file to the ZBrush 2018\ZStartup\Macros\Misc folder and press Macro>Reload All Macros. The button will then appear in the Macro>Macros>Misc sub-palette.

Is it possible to move the location of quicksaves and autosaves folder?
I recently purchased a new Microsoft Surface Go and love it, however, Zbrush does not recognize it. Under Preferences/Tablet the sliders are all dimmed out. I made sure to use Global Settings under the Brushes Pallette. I tried going to Microsoft and seeing if they had updated drivers but all I found was for the Surface Pro. Is this a firmware issue being that the device is new? If so, do you think they will eventually update it to work with Zbrush. If it’s not going to work with Zbrush I may consider returning it. Thanks for any info.
Grab the wintab driver (Wintab_x64_1.0.0.20.zip) from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498
Microsoft doesn’t publish wintab drivers for their newer devices as most windows systems have moved to the new pen interface and wintab
is becoming harder and harder to support.
You may find that Zbrush doesn’t work very well with the current Microsoft wintab and will loose pressure readings if you open or
save a file with the stylus (use the touch interface or a keyboard instead.) Oddly I don’t see this problems with other wintab based
programs or programs which use the modern stylus interface. Hopefully Microsoft or Pixologic will sort things out with the next update.
As of this writing, it works well enough if you don’t use the stylus in the system file interface and use the touch interface when some widgets are
flaky…the main widget that gives me trouble is the gear icon of the new gizmos.
I’m currently using a Surface Book 2 with Zbrush for my portable sculpting setup (though my main system uses a Cintiq Pro 24.)

How do you work with image planes that do not line up right? This is causing me to make adjustments to match one orthographic view, only to decrease the accuracy from the other orthographic view. (Making my sculpt accurate to one view decreases the accuracy from the other view) How do you get around this? Thank you.

Hello guys,
I noticed a new probleme using GOZ, i’m using 3dsmax and Zbrush, with GOZ to switch from one to the other, i have been using it since day one of GOZ, so it’s been a long time.
I’m using zbrush 2018.1 and 3dsmax 2017 P3.
My problem is that when i use GOZ from 3dsmax to Zbrush, or Zbrush to 3DSMax, it seems to disable the gamma correction inside 3dsmax. It’s a new thing, that i have never experienced before, so i don’t know if it’s because of 3dsmax 2017P3 or Zbrush 2018.1, but i was wondering if anybody noticed it, and if you at pixologic are aware about this.
A nice thing that i noticed, is that GOZ doesn’t switch 3dsmax to scanline anymore, i’m a Vray user, and it’s been years since i have been waiting for this change, so thank you !
Cheers,
Julien
Hey,
I found a few mentions of this in the forum but no solution (the only link I found was dead). So:-
I’m having a problem with a sculpt in ZBrush 2018.
I am very much a newbie to the software and am trying to create a sculpt without following a tutorial step by step (Been there, done that; will do more, but for now…).
Using Sculptris Pro (in ZBrush 2018; NOT the free Sculptris software) and I hit 5.5 million polys on the head and got the warning of too many polys for Sculptris Pro and so it was disabled. I went into preferences and upped the poly limit to 10 million and started getting tiny holes in my mesh - especially when smoothing.
I tried resetting the poly limit to 5 million but I still had the problem. Spitting the model into smaller parts didn’t help either.
I know I have made a few mistakes/newbie errors in that I have used Sculptris Pro too much to smooth to a very fine detail (hence the simple dragon head being 5.5 million polys) but I have been working towards making each set of spikes separate subtools using IMM on a curve (lots of learning for me there). I was just starting to rework the lower horn (flattening out the spikes so I could resculpt the horn and add the spikes again via IMM on a curve (I’m making them a separate mesh by splitting masked points before final manipulation of the spikes to get them in just the right spot/s).
I’m trying to work out whether the problem is me or a bug as I have never had this issue before (and the issue persists even when I don’t use Sculptris Pro.
I’ve attached a screencap to show the problem.
Thanks for your time guys (whomever has the time…lol).
I hope it’s an easy fix as I’m at the point of ‘gently putting ZBrush away’ and going onto other projects…
I forgot to mention; using Decimation Master and Decimating to only 50% produces many fine holes and the problem remains when using any brushes on the mesh (ie. more holes.
Thanks to anyone bothering to read this and even more if they have some suggestions that I can use (ie. constructive).

Hello everyone, so I had some buttons hiding at the bottom of my UI below the viewable UI in an old UI I loaded up in Zbrush.
Once I turned on enable customize and started moving buttons around to make things fit I still couldn’t get to some of them.
I change my win7 resolution to 2560x1440 so I can reach those buttons.
Then I changed my win7 resolution back to 1920x1080 but Zbrush UI interface is still stuck on the larger resolution setting and every button/slider is really small.
Thank you for any help!
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere already …
When creating a Curve Insert Brush Tri Parts from a FLAT strip of polygons, and check “Weld Points” in the Brush>Modifiers palette, then in ZBrush 4r8 it does weld the points, but in ZBrush 2018.1 it does NOT weld the points.
EDIT : In AskZBrush it is said that welding does not happen when the mesh is a flat plane, ,and that you need to give it some thickness, but in 4r8 it does weld points even when the mesh is flat.
So does that mean that funcionality is lost in ZBrush 2018.1 ?

Have a problem with live boolean\make boolean mesh.
I started using live boolean for the first time. And I loved it.
But zbrush isnt perfect. So as soon as I get any fatal errors.
(which happens from time to time) and zbrush dies on me.
with relaunch of zbrush. Make boolean mesh button gets broken.
It literally does nothin.
To fix it I have to reinstall Zbrush.
But again.
I get fatal errors.
Zbrush freezes. Make boolean mesh gets broken.
And cycle repeats.
It wouldnt be a big deal. If only I could hard reset zbrush. evrery time this happens.
But initialize zbrush doesnt help.
Neither deleting ZBrushData2018 folder, saved tools, projects or quick saves.
Just bought Zbrush 2018 but there one problem that I dont know if its supposed to be fixed or deliberate. Split to Parts in the subtool wont work until I show the polygroups. So literally anything I do before I Shift + F wont let me Split to parts… Its like the program want to comfirm that I have poly groups or something.
Someone please reply to my thread, I need some help
I’m having a problem with the Masking Pen in ZB 2018. Unlike before, when stylus pressure controlled the
mask opacity, the masking pen is either on, or off, as if I were using a mouse.
I launched ZB4R8, and it behaves normally, as expected. The more stylus pressure I apply, the more opaque the mask.
Why can I not get this to work in ZB 2018?
I’ve upgraded to 2018.1 and whenever it crashes the recovered tool wont work.
It just crashes zbrush again. Is there a fix to the recovery function?
Please help. A crash is already painful enough, but to loose work to a faulty recovery system is salt to the wound.
Thanks !
Cheers, Cad
how do i get back to the regular view? after i split my subtool up this happened and i have no clue how to get back to where i started
