Questions of the curious kid!

I just got the Zbrush demo and it looks a little overwhelming(then again I have no artistic talent). I love to draw but I am absoloutely horrible at it(I’m not one of those people who are negative, you would laugh at my drawing on paper or digital). I am thinking about if I like the demo trying to work really hard and go ahead and buy Zbrush. I would use it mostly for fun and as a hobby. Would it be worth getting it just to try to put things things I imagine into a form I could share with people? I’ll try the demo but I’m really curious if I could make use of it since it looks really inovative but is it just to hard for a simple person like me to use for entertainment? I would be willing to learn but I didn’t know if it was one of those your born with it things or if its learnable by everyone with time and effort? I have a talent for going on and on, I know that! Thanks

P.S. I totally forgot to ask but how do I slow down the Zscript speed? I got a new ocmputer for Christmas and I can’t follow the scripts because they are so fast!
:qu:

Hi Hobbit, and Welcome to ZBrush Central!

To slow down a ZScript, increase the value in the ‘Replay Delay’ slider in the ZScript:Modifiers SubPalette.

hello hobbit… i think zbrush will work for you… im like you in most cases i cant draw on paper at all… however ive learned alot here and now i can call my self a artist… im still learning alot of programs and i do art to enrich my own mind, and you can do the same… use the demo for awhile and im sure youll want to buy the full copy…good luck and post your artwork soon…no matter what…THATS A ORDER PRIVATE…lol.

For my own two cents, I really suck when trying to do anything on paper. I went through the first 31 years of my life honestly believing that I had no artistic talent.

Sometimes, though, a new medium can completely unlock one’s abilities and you end up surprising yourself. ZBrush certainly did that for me! It very well might for you, as well.

No matter what, self expression is a very good thing to culture. Whether or not you ever become good, you will find no end of joy from putting a part of yourself onto the canvas – whether it be physical or digital.

Play with ZBrush and learn its various techniques. You should find something that clicks for you, and allows you to create the kinds of things that your muse tells you to.

Hi Hobbit, welcome to ZBC, and more importantly, ZBrush! I can assure you, ZBrush is really, really fun. It takes a little time to learn, but the great thing is, you can have fun while you learn!

the thing that really makes it possible for Zbrush to become the medium of the otherwise untalented is, i think, the great encouragement you will receive from other Zbrush users. without the help and increadible tips and tutorials available on ZBC, many of us would be without hope. i consider myself a fairly decent artist on paper and on computer, but i still have so much to learn and this is where i am going to learn it, on ZBC. if you get discouraged at first or get frustrated trying to get your model or whatever to do what you want, just remember, even the best ask for help. i hope you enjoy the Z as much as i have. Good luck and may your computer be jam-free.

I think it is correct like you said that the friendly community here is the most amazing thing. You are the nicest people I have ever met, I don’t see one bad person here. Very few programs have such a friendly community and it is really encouraging to see this nice of a place is still around. I’ll start my tutorials tonight!
