I just made a document with the same dimensions and pulled up a load of different tools with different materials, but it rendered fine for me. To check I did all of the above once more and again it rendered fine with no crash problems.
I pasted the application file right next to my existing 3.12 application file and 3.12b loads just fine.
Thanks for the info, that’s what I did too. Then I scrapped the download and tried again but it still crashes on launch. I’ve contacted support, hopefully they can figure out the problem.
I noticed that you have to have the new ZBrush application file in the same folder as the old one. Could it be possible that yours is not? Mine crashed too until I moved it to the correct folder.
Not sure if you meant me but mine is in the 3.12 folder along with the old 3.12 and it’s stil crashing.

I did mean you. Was worth a shot anyway… Good luck!
sorry if this is a dumb question, but for your guys who are having crashes, did you replace your icon in the dock with the new 3.12B icon? Just throwing it out there. Not sure if that’s it or not.
@Baz,maybe you can try to re-install all? Here it’s working fine.
Thanks!
Yup, I replaced the dock icon, I get the same result launching from the dock or the app in the applications folder.
Yup tried scrapping my download and reinstalling but it made no difference. I don’t don’t know if it’s worth reinstalling 3.12 and then reinstalling 3.12b, I’ll wait till I hear from support before messing with it any more I think.
Thanks for trying to help guys!
I am crashing too, anytime I open a current project I get
"INTERNAL ERROR /ZDev/Fdev/sources/Mash3DDXF.cpp Line:12165
Error wjile reading HighDef Data Object."
After getting this a couple of times it will crash like if it was reading a million polygon model with no highdef polys.
here’s a screenshot:
The same thing is happening to me…
I was so pumped when the site said it was released… downloaded it… and nothing. Crashes on launch and says it can’t find a bunch of libraries… Good times.
what are the fixes anyways? Is there a list of them somewhere??? Zmapper, Zapplink??
To install ZBrush 3.12B…
Note: Make sure that you move the updated application only, not the enclosing folder.
If done correctly, you will have both apps (3.12 and 3.12b) side by side.
Yup, that’s what I’ve done…

Hey BazC, do you have any plugins other than default employed? Try removing them first. Both Edwin and I got things running smooth this morning, so I’m curious to what the issue might be (we don’t have a lot of plugins).
i was having a problem where i couldn’t paint with Standard Brush until i cleared the screen with a fresh launch. So, i deactivated and just installed 3.12 all over again, reactivated, placed 3.12B in the folder, and then trashed the original ZBrushOSX.app and the problem was fixed… so it might work for your problem. It probably had to do with some preference i had set. but anyway it worked… and you don’t have to keep the original ZBrush OSX app (keep the folder(s) of course)… it just wastes space from all i can tell.
Nope, none at all!
Cheers - I might give that a try later, thanks!
I also found that I have the problem with painting when I launch ZBrush 3.12b, and it seems to be related to the ZDepth of the working canvas/layer. If you useSpherebrush and just keep painting in one spot then eventually the paint appears as it initially starts to paint in negative ZDepth. This seems to be resolved with a clear canvas command (apple-N).
try doing a complete reinstall, maybe that’ll fix’er up.
Arran,
Do you have a StartupDocument? If so, delete it, restart ZBrush and create a new one.
HTH,
