Questions and Troubleshooting for PaintStop plugin

Thanks Psionic, I appreciate your taking the time to report these issues. Your observations are very useful.

Until these issues are resolved I suggest you avoid using the [ and ] keys to adjust brush size.

To avoid the streaking, do the pick up with Fade on. This is an issue I thought had been solved but obviously I need to take another look. :frowning:

The Spotlight issues are also something I will address in an update as soon as practical.

Is there anyway to apply the depth texture of the oil brushes to a 3d tool? i am working on a project that needs a macrophotographic hand painted look to it.

Is there anyway to apply the pixol data through spotlight?

You can’t do it directly. But this method will work quite well to just add some roughness to the brush strokes:

  1. Exit PaintStop projecting the paint to your model.
  2. Press Tool>Morph Target>Store MT
  3. Press Tool>Masking>Mask by Saturation or Tool>Masking>Mask by Intensity. Which is best will depend on your painting so you’ll need to experiment.
  4. Using the Standard brush, sculpt lightly over the brush strokes to bring out the texture. You can turn Tool>Polypaint>Colorize off to see how the texture is developing. Turning off Tool>Masking>View Mask can also help.
  5. You can use the Morph brush to restore any parts of your sculpt that need it.

Is there anyway to apply the pixol data through spotlight?

You can sculpt using Spotlight by switching on ZAdd but this is analogous to ‘Mask by Intensity’ as images in Spotlight have no depth information.

*A further way is to adapt a sculpting brush so that you can paint directly on to a model in a way similar to the PaintStop oil paint. There’s a version in the attached zip. Put it in the ZStartup/BrushPresets folder for it to be available whenever you start ZBrush.

i did a little painting inside paintstop ( an apple )… i need to place it somewhere else on the canvas …but i dono how to move it …should i make a selection and if so how ? any clue would be much appreciated  thanx a lot

Is there a way to activate lazy mouse in paintstop for zbrush 4, I really need it, thank you.

Lazy Mouse is only available for sculpting brushes which won’t work in PaintStop. However the Mouse Avg slider (top right of PaintStop UI) does a similar job though there is no red trail.

Yes mouse avg works, but the more I add eg. 15, the pointer is offset. A fix to this would be great, thank you.

Hi, I installed Paintstop properly, but a couple of questions please:
how do I get back to my Zbrush interface?
when I paint, my paintstroke has a whitish halo to it, when the colors chosen are anything but
, thank you, Craig
