Question with custom zsphere rig (New tranpose master tool)

The solution i’m looking for is this : You create a project file with some meshes, you do your zsphere rig only one time with transpose master, and then once it’s done (and saved) every time you’ll press the TposeMesh button (in this project file) the rig you created previously will show up accordingly …

I have tried the new saving options available with transpose master but it’s not working the way i was hoping for unless i’m doing something wrong.

Basically it only save the “Transpose session” in a new project file and not really the whole rig integrated in your original file that you can import back and forth,
that mean if you add some more armor pieces / props to your base mesh afterward (with contact points) and re load your last transpose save … Well, all the new added pieces will be lost, because it’s not the same project file anymore.

(well i don’t know if i make myself clear, english isn’t my first language but i hope some of you guys get to the point)

I’m still figuring out a way to import a complete zsphere rig inside a transpose master session once you have hit the “tpose mesh” button.

At this point it looks like you have to redo the entire zsphere rig every time you hit the tpose mesh button if you want to move forward and complete
your mesh with new props, armor pieces. But hopefully i’m wrong, and there is a work around …

There’s no easy way to do what you want with Transpose Master as it stands but I’d appreciate it if you’d try out the attached file.

  1. Unzip and put the file into you ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\Zplugs folder.
  2. Restart ZBrush.
  3. There should be two new buttons in the ZPlugin>Transpose Master menu, ‘Copy Rig’ and ‘Paste Rig’.

Transpose Master needs to record the subtools in a mesh to work properly. You need to create a new TPose Mesh if you add any new subtools. So this is how you would use the new buttons:

  1. Load up a Transpose Master project with the ZSphere Rig you want to copy.
  2. Select the ZSphere Rig from the Tool palette and press the Transpose Master>Copy Rig button.
  3. Create a new TPose Mesh for the altered mesh, making sure the ZSphere Rig option is ON.
  4. Press Transpose Master>Paste Rig. The rig should be copied over, you can Bind the mesh and pose.
  5. After posing press the TPose>SubT button to transfer the pose.

The Copy Rig button will transfer a rig between ZBrush projects if necessary.

Thanks,

Thank you Marcus_civic for your answer and the new script you provide :

ok here are the few problems that i have encountered with it :

  • The Zsphere rig option must NOT BE turn ON when you are copying a rig from the transpose master project file you have loaded. Otherwise zbrush will just crash miserably once you try to select it after you just past it in the new project file … (don’t ask me why but that just what happened to me)

So be aware to not have any options turn on in the tranpose master plug in menu.

  • initially a part of my mesh (the legs) shared the same name that another subtool on the list and as as result, my mesh just got completely destroyed after i transfered the pose. So be careful with that too.

But otherwise yes he works perfectly thanks you again marcus, such a time saver !

I’ll make further testing later see if i encounter any other bugs.

groom36,

  • I’ve not had the issue you describe when the ZSphere Rig option is on but I will look into it.

  • Transpose Master should automatically rename duplicate subtools. Did this not happen?

Are you on a PC or Mac?

Thanks,

Hello marcus,

My OS is windows 7 (64 bits)

as far as my previous post, you’re right i jumped to the conclusion a little too quickly there, turning on or off the different options won’t change a thing overall, i’m still getting errors and crashes left and right.

i have two majors problems occurring when i try to transpose my meshes, here are some screenshots of the errors i received, hope it helps

for this one it occurs randomly, i don’t know exactly why … the pop up appears right after i select a zsphere on the rig that i have imported in the new project file :

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/9320/error11.jpg

and the second one, much more problematic if you ask me, because it happens almost ever time i try to re import a mesh with the new pose.
Once i have clicked the tpose-subt button and zbrush has done the calculations, this is what i get :

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/4589/error2q.jpg
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/9131/error2yes.jpg

If i click yes, my mesh explode

If i click no, i have some major scaling issue happening (my mesh get 2 or 3 times smaller) and also a symmetry offset (the local symmetry is broken i think, it’s stuck to the global coordinate system)

groom36,

Is the ZTL you are using one created in ZBrush 4 or 3.5? ZTLs from 3.5 can give problems in 4.0, particularly with layers.

I would need the ZTL to test before I can find out what is going wrong. Can you upload it somewhere?

No it’s a ZPR file (project file) entirely done in ZB 4

Nothing to brag about to be honest, just a quick rough sketch of some monster made of 4 different parts (head chest legs, arms), all started from Zsphere, (it’s not a single continuous mesh that’s it)

I’ll send you the file and the TM_project file associated with it so you can take a look at what’s going on.

I’m going to upload it later this day.

But the problem is, i have also experimented the same bug with other files including default ones shipping with zbrush like the average_man … So it’s not specific to this particular file i’m afraid … But we’ll see.

Also a small problem i noticed with the new script (copy/past rig) is that once you have pasted the rig one time, it is no more in the “zbrush memory”. Basically you have to redo the entire pipeline of loading your TM project file, copy rig, reloading the actual project file, paste it.

It’s a little bit tedious process at this point, it will be cool if you can fix or simplify it !

OK, thanks, the file will be useful. I’m alarmed that you are having so many problems though - I haven’t been able to reproduce them.

If you are copying the rig between projects you can paste to a single ZSphere - it doesn’t have to be the one that you get from Transpose Master, simply select the ZSphere from the Tool palette. You can then save this in the project and copy the rig when needed to your TM rigs.

i have just sent you a private message with the download link,

Hope it works

Thanks, got that. I’ll take a look.

Thank you for this plugin. I have not put it to a lot of use but this is one thing I was struggling with. So far it works as advertised. Nice job! Thanks again…

Marvelous, now all rigs become a collection of helper. Thank you very much Marcus!

Wow this is great. I was just in need of this and lo and behold here it is! Just tried it, works great. I didn’t have any issues on a win xp system at work. I’ll try it at home on my win 7 64bit. Thanks so much Marcus!
