Question on using Photoshop to texture (aka creating UV texture maps)

Hello,

I googled for this, and came across a tutorial which showed how to fix UVs on your .obj files in Maya 2008 so you can edit your UV maps in Photoshop. However, is there a non-Maya way to do it? Is there a Zbrush plugin or 3rd party software package that easily unwraps objs to create useful UV maps that you can edit in Photoshop for texturing?

How do people do it who don’t have Maya?

Thanks

roadkillUV
or
headus

great for organic unwrapping…and work fairly well for non-organic.

I use roadkill myself as it has a direct plug in for XSI and is free.
roadkill also comes with a quick tutorial on how to unwrap a human. If you go through the tutorial (10-15min) then you know everything there is to know about roadkill.
