Question for the community: two options...

So… I have been making some videos recently between modo, ZBrush… hopefully photoshop, and cinema as well.

I am currently making a video on how to create characters but I am making this real time, and keeping the process as simple as possible. It is obviously aimed at newer users because I don’t want to make this too tool centric. I do however want to explain the process thoroughly. At the same time I want to go over topics like good topology, texturing, exporting, getting your result elsewhere and rendering.

So, I have this video set on this character, and it is running at 8 hours now, and I am only done the sculpting portion. I want to keep this whole thing under 10 hours, so if I go over texturing, retopology, etc… then those topics will not be as thorough.

My question is, would the community rather see a 2 part video set, where I release part 1 sooner rather than later… that deals with creating the character from concept… to sculpting, and leave the retopo (and discussion on good topology ), texturing, exporting, rendering etc for another video set, but make it more thorough. The one catch is I would obviously need about a month to finish part 2, so part two would come in like a month and a week or two.

This will also allow me to go over some more topics for the sculpting section, and deal with finaling the model more thoroughly. ( skin quality, etc. )

Heres where I am at right now by the way. ( still not finished sculpting, but getting closer )

 Lets see now would a Junkie rather get a fix now and another later or Jones until later and overdose?

I’d think something of that length and depth would be best broken up into parts.

Sounds like your doing a good step by step which is always lacking in Tut’s. :+1: :+1: I’ve always liked Tut’s that assume the user has zero knowledge giving detailed steps. To often I think they are truncated to shorten them and reduce file size making them maddening if one essential step is not clear.

Totally agree with comments posted by Blaine.
Best of luck and do not get impatient, we will be here
when you are done.:+1:

update.
It’s at over 11 hours of footage now. Pretty much done. I just have to package it up, do the introduction, upload, sort some things out and it’ll be released within a few days.

So I took what you guys said into account. I made this one focus on the creation of the geometry, and sculpting. Theres a bunch of theory on wrinkles, how I go about the process, and then implement it to the model.

The next one will go over retopology ( and do things like discuss good topology, how to retopo for games versus film… ), texture painting ( zapplink,PM,and Spotlight ), and when thats all done, get the model exported into modo and cinema4d… set up the shaders, and render it out.
