Question about zb4 and sl sculpted prims along with blender (answered)

I am wondering if there is a workflow between blender and zbrush.
I am wanting to make the base primative in blender for oblong sculpts or… at least in zbrush… but then… import to blender for… reseting pivote points for animation as well as baking the sculpts.

when i try to import the zbrush meshes tho… blender errors out in baking the sculpted mesh.

any information or work arounds would be greatly appreciated.

There’s a plugin in this thread that may help: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=93650

I’m not familiar with Blender/Sculpty workflow but you might try this:

  1. Use the plugin to initalize a prim.
  2. Use the plugin Make Polymesh button to create a polymesh.
  3. Sculpt in ZBrush if desired.
  4. Export from the Tool palette as an OBJ.
  5. Import OBJ into Blender.

HTH,

thank you… i tried that… i couldnt get blender to render a sculpt map off the object made with sculpt prim… from zbrush… yes i used the plugin to convert from mesh to sculpted prims… but blender kept having a fail message when trying to render sculpt map.

Well then I think you’ll have to set up the prim in Blender and export as an OBJ to ZBrush, then back as an OBJ to Blender.

thank you … will try it that way

i exported a sculpty as an .obj from sculptypaint, when i imported it into zbrush the polygon count had changed and so it wouldn’t bake as a sculpty. wonder if that is what’s happening with blender as well.

same, when i export an object prepared and blender , and out to zbrush and back, all sculpty data is lost.
