Question about textures

When I am poly painting and using zadd and such and want to make a Texture map and hit New From Polypaint, I find that if I add anything more it will not be added to the polypaint map. (no uv’s on this one just texture from polypaint). Is there a work around so I can add more if I want to? I am exporting to OBJ for use in Vue.

thanks!
Karen

Export to a paint program. You’ve assigned a texture, you have to remove it to polypaint more. There’s also Zappalink.

Sorry for being dense. So there is no way to keep painting/texturing after you have hit New From Polypaint?
I have to just keep working and finish then hit New From Polypaint?

Not sure what you meant by going to a paint program. I want to do it all in zbrush then export the obj file with the polypaint map.

thanks!

Displaying a texture overrides displaying the polypaint, but it is still there. You can turn the texture off in the Texture Map subpalette to display your polypaint again and continue painting.

Thanks for helping, I do so appreciate it! Can I, after hitting the button for the texture form polypaint, keep painting and then get hit the button for more of the new painting on the polypaint button? I am finding that the option is grayed out. Then I am stuck with no where to go and all the work and no way for a map. I even tried an experiment and did a lot of polypainting without hitting the polypaint map button and after a while noticed that the option was grayed out anyway! I really am at a loss with this. Any suggestions will be welcomed!

And if you search these forums you will find where this question has been answered before. Happy ZBrushing

You can convert polypaint to a texture map at any time, provided the model has UVs. If it does not, the option will be grayed out until you create UVs (using the UV Map subpallete, UV Master, or an external program).

If you’ve created a texture, you can return to polypainting simply by untoggling “Tool: Texturemap: Texture On”. Then you’re free to continue painting.

If you accidentally erased your polypaint sometime after creating and applying a texture, you can convert the texture back to polypaint using Tool: Polypaint: Polypaint From Texture.

Thanks so much for trying to help with this. Texturing has been a bear to learn with Zbrush since I am using it for Vue.
I appreciate all your help! This forum is great!
