Question about rotating

Is there anyway to get a precise rotation?

When I’m using “Rotate Edited Tool” and hold shift, it put’s my character in which ever position it’s closest to, i.e Front, Side and Back.

And if I’m not holding shift, the rotation can go abit funny, like end up looking up or something.

But how would I go about getting a precise rotation alllllllll the way around?

I hope you know what I mean.

If you turn off Edit and turn on Rotate you will get the Gyro. You can then enter precise values in the Transform>Info sliders.

I also made a little plugin that lets you rotate by specific increments in Edit mode:

Both methods will occasionally show a problem called ‘gimbal lock’. As the model reaches exactly 90 degrees it will flip upside down. For my plugin, starting a little off exactly on 0 degrees will avoid the issue.

Thank you for you tool and help, but where do I put your plugin?
I put it in C:\pixologic\zbrush3\Zdata\Zplugs

But It’s not showing up in Zbrush.

I’m using zbrush 3.1 btw.

The plugin won’t work with 3.1 - it’s for later versions of ZBrush. Also you should not install anything in the ZData/ZPlugs. Downloaded plugins should go in the ZStartup/ZPlugs.

Thank you for telling me where they go, bummer it wont work.

Are there any solutions to the 90% thing?
Or something else?

Not that I know of. Though you could upgrade to ZBrush 4 - it’s free for registered users.
