question about making eyes

hey guys-

i’m still in the very early stages of learning how things work, so please take my vocabulary and working knowledge with a grain of salt…

anyhow, i recently learned how to append subtools and wanted to put this to practical use when making eyes.
what i can’t get my head around is- is there a way to make 2 identically sized and shaped spheres for eyes that i can rotate and sculpt on with any degree of symmetry?
what i want to do is have the ability to put both eye spheres inside the eye cavities and make sure they are both set in at the same depth, height, distance apart etc, and them be able to rotate them and sculpt on them simultaneously.
does this ability exist, or is it just wishful thinking?

thanks a bunch for any input!

  1. Make One eye

    1. Append it as a subtool to the body, and use the transpose tools to position it in place.

    2. Clone the eye subtool, then append that clone into the main tool.

    3. In the Deformation menu, use the “Mirror” (presumably along X axis)

    4. If using Zbrush 3.1, use Subtool master to merge the two subtools. If using 3.5, you will have to Clone the mirrored eyeball, and use the"Insert Mesh" command in the geometry menu to insert one eye into the other eye’s subtool, then delete the other subtool. Make sure both eyes have the same # of subdivision levels, and both are at the highest level when you do this.

hot dang!!!
thanks alot. i can’t wait to give this a try.
i’m finding that i’m really diggin’ this program… i was all resistant at first, but ya just GOTTA love all you can do with it!

I would just correct myself, if using 3.5, you could use the new “Merge Visible” command in the subtool palette to merge the eyes instead of the insert mesh command. Marcus just drew my attention to that in another thread.
