Question about high detail sculpting

Hi everybody !
I’m new to high detail sculpting , so i have some question :

  • How many poly do a mesh ready for high detail ? Example i model a bear with dynamesh, but it don’t give good detail , so i divide it to lv 3, it endup have 11 000 000 polygons. Is it too much ? I can’t use that mesh imported to 3dsmax on my system.

  • If i polypaint my hi-res bear, After i retopoly a low-res bear in 3dsmax , how can i use the texture ( from polypainting ) of the hi-res bear apply to the low-res bear ? They have different UV now. Or should i polypaint the low-res bear ?

  • A nice game model of a bear have about how many polygon ? same question to the car, the man, woman, children.

  • I intend to make normal map, Can i import a lowres bear ( was retopoly in another program ) , and use the hi-res bear to bake normal map ? How to do it ?

Should i retopoly my low-res bear in 3dsmax, topogun , or in zbrush ? Which way is easier ?
