Question about fibermesh

Hi guys

I am trying to create a feather with fibermesh and so far I am quite pleased with the results although I have one serious issue with it.

When you look at real feather the barbs are evenly distributed along the body of the feather. I can’t get that with fibermesh. All the variations settings are zeroed and still the fibers are distributed randomly. Is is possible at all to get equal distribution along the shaft.
I have attached an image so you can see what I mean.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vlad74,

Was having a play with fibermesh and its settings, wasn’t able to get equal spacing like yourself. Then… thinking out the box (which uses a lot of brain power for me… ha ha), I might have thought of a way. If you accept your fibermesh and BPR. Turn your BPR to Geo> Auto Groups. Select one and delete hidden (a single strand left). Make the single hair into a insert mesh brush and then turn on curve mode and play around with the settings (curve step) plus the modifiers to get a taper! I had a look at curvetubesnap brush.

Good luck

Thanks very much for the reply Wyattfox. This is a good idea, but after you use the insert brush you won’t be able to groom and style the feather the way you want it using the groom brushes. Anyway I will test it - I may be able to get a good result with the method. Thanks again.
