Question about alpha size for Make 3D

What’s the max size alpha image I can use for MAKE 3D ?
I tried 3000 by 3000 pixels and my system hung.

make alpha from what?

I’ve done a 4k. with mrgbz grabber

Are you having trouble importing the alpha? If so set the Preferences/Performance/Preload file size to 500 to allow the import of large files.

I have used 4096 by 4096 16 bit gray scale images with the Make 3D button. I did get zbrush to crash when I set the Mesh Resolution slider to 2048. Perhaps try a lower setting on the Mesh Resolution

Thanks for the reply

I imported a 3000 by 3000 displacement map that I made in another app into the alpha channel pallete, that went fine.
But when i hit the make 3d button the system locked up and i had to Control alt del to shut down ZB 4R2.

Thank for the reply, sorry I took so long getting back to this thread, my thread subscription is not working, checked my spam to.

I tried again and this time I waited for about 30 seconds and it unlocked and the newly created object showed up.
So prob might be solved.
