Quester's Sketchbook

I’ve been chiseling him a bit more. Worked on his legs and his feet and his arms :stuck_out_tongue: I also roughed out the knee pad thingy, and I also put some more detail on the head. Will definitely do more later, though.

Looks good so far, you anatomy is gettin better, I like your legs, but not your arms, especially your shoulder, I find it more small to maintain this strong arms

Keep up the good work :+1:

honestly, the shoulder doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the model because of the concept art… he had small shoulders… but I’m probably gonna enlarge them so he could be more anatomically correct. I wanna see what my teacher says before doing that, though. What other parts of the arms do you think need work, or is it just the shoulder? Thanks for stopping by, Shames! THIS IS BLIZZARD’S ART, WHICH I AM FOLLOWING :stuck_out_tongue:

you are welcom Quester99, like I said your body is getting better, just sharpen your lines especially in your forarms and hands, and keep your muscles smooth and avoid symmetry work, enlarge his shoulder a little bit and more lines like you did in your torso… and please check the shame of his hand I find them too big.

Keep up your good work and we keep our eyes on it

I definitely agree with you on sharpening everything up. I am avoiding going up in subdivisional levels too fast. I think I need more resolution in some places, but I think I need more subdivisions to add more detail to the head and face and to sharpen everything up. You think his hands are too big?

yep cos like that the model looks more cartoony.

hmm, good point. Now how real should this guy look? :stuck_out_tongue: You have an awesome portfolio, btw, Shames :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey!!
this is great!.. just made a z-ling rush over your thread and the hydra is killing me!!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

And your dark templar looks really great----

I made one in maya a long time ago… pity, it was in the PLE, so i lost it forever

The hydra is now in my desktop, I would love to see a turnable of it

Thanks a lot

if you wanna know how he should, you must respect your art concept as well as the reality

Shames : hmmm, well, in the concept, his hands are HUGE :stuck_out_tongue: I just might keep it that way. I think it makes him look alien (plus I am always partial to big hands in a model :D) Does anyone else have any input on the hands? Thanks again Shames :stuck_out_tongue:

ISK-86 : Wow, man. Thank you. You should make another dark templar :stuck_out_tongue: You made that one a long time ago, it would be awesome to see what you can do now. You mentioned a turntable of the Hydra. Well, I do have one, but I need to compress it more cuz I think its like 12 megs or something like that. I dunno, how do people generally compress their videos and then where do they upload them to ZBrush central. I don’t wanna do the youtube route… but I will if I have to.

I worked on the shin armor. It is more or less done, I think.

Well, I have been busy doing stuff :stuck_out_tongue: So I wanted to give it a rest with anatomy (I want to see it with new eyes) so I’ve been working on Zeratul’s armor instead of his body or his head. I’ll get back to 'em, though. No worries  So I’ve worked on his Warp Beam, the front of his strap thingy, and the back of it (that’s not so finished, though. It looks like Slave I, which I think is good :D). Tell me what you think :o

Hey! Just followed your advice… Making a new dark templar… I would feel silly just posting it here… if you want to check it to give C+C It’s in my deviant

Cool work man. It’s coming real nice. I like the armor.:+1:

melodico - Thank man! Thanks for showing up.

ISK-86 - I looked at your Protoss. It’s looking interesting. What concept are you following? I don’t like flying in blind, so I always have a concept even if I don’t refer to it much. Now, you have two pictures up there in your gallery. They’r supposed to be the same Protoss, correct? I think that his eyes are too far appart. If you look at the concepts, they seem to have closer set eyes. And the crest I think is too low, but you’re still working on it. You should post your wips in ZBrushCentral and not in your deviant… you might get more comments. Hope that helps!

Okay, guys. I been touching up the armor a bit. I’m done with all of the pieces that you will see (except for the two shoulder thingies, I’m not done with those at all). The I’ll finish up the body and then I’ll probably add some scratches and stuff to the armor and pore stuff to the body and face… we’ll see if I have time for that last part

here’s an update on Zeratul’s head. C & C’s guys!

[](javascript:zb_insimg(‘127595’,‘head2.jpg’,1,0))

Awesome stuff, so many details.
Did you create that Hydralisk out of a single mesh? If so how can your machine handle it? Hehe… Mine wouldn’t be able to handle that many polygons I fear. (Unless each was a separate subobject)

The Cheshire Cat - I’ve been to your website before and I just wanna say that it is AWESOME. I really like your goblet thingy and your big purple and green monster. Thanks for stopping by! To answer your question: no, the hydralisk was definitely NOT one mesh :stuck_out_tongue: My computer would’ve burst into flames if it was. The hydralisk was around 20 or 30 subtools. He was a total of 20 or so million pollies. My computer can handle from 6 to 8 million pollies per subtool (most did not get that high, though). But I think that the hydralisk is a sloppy model (as many have said in this thread, lol). I like it, but he isn’t polished enough for me to consider him done. Thanks for stopping by.

I have a question for the general populous:

You guys think that his head has too many sharp details?

Thanks!

Whoa thanks for the compliment. Really nice reading that. I’m never sure how many people actually enter my website and its nice knowing that people like it. (Especially talented artists like yourself)

I actually do like your Zeratul model better, since I think that you really captured the protoss designs on his armor well, but I think that both models are great.

Keep up the good work.

The Cheshire Cat - Thanks, man. :stuck_out_tongue: I appreciate that.

Its been a LONG while, hasn’t it? Well, I been busy with my rigging class and my senior seminar to post, but I have been working on Zeratul. He’s been retopologized in ZBrush (which is PAINFUL, but I did it) from head to toe. His geometry more compliments his forms now (though his legs are still being sculpted so it might not compliment it so well, but his legs look MUCH better than they used to). Okay, so here are some screenshots of the new topology. Within the next few days, I hope to completely finish his body, and the only parts of the armor that need any real work are his shoulder pad thingies, but other than that, the rest of his armor is done. All I need to do is UV him (which will be quick), texture him (which will not be quick) and pose him and then make his cloth look like cloth, and then render him out in Maya. Lol, that’s a lot. But if I work night and day on him, it will happen, with God’s help. You will see :stuck_out_tongue: Okay, enough rambling. Here’s the pics.

Here’s some more Zbrush work! YAY! Okay, so the legs look about done, I just gotta polish 'em up, and all that is left is the hands, and his body will be done. Comment on his legs, or anything else that you see! Thanks!
