Queebo + Step by Step

Hi all
I hope all is well in z land, I have been desperately trying to catch up to all the other 1.5ers and learn all of the new features, I didn’t realise that there was alot of re learning involved in the upgrade, It is nearly a completly different program. I can’t see one old feature that has come out of the upgrade untouched, and to think, there is another upgrade just around the corner. The work below is my 1st go in 1.5 it was a mission for me to learn some of the new features.

:large_orange_diamond: Step by Step :large_orange_diamond:
:small_orange_diamond:The zphere model was created with a low poly adaptive skin. the z sphere feature Is so much better than I origianly thought it would be, It is so nice to be able to create a model with one mesh and to be able to pose and rotate it aswell. and The model was then textured in texture master.

:small_orange_diamond:The upper clothing was made with the ring 3d tool, I made it a bit different by purposly mucking up the wrinkles, and then trying to correct them by hand, this produced more interesting variations in the cloth. Another thing I did different for these was to turn on the Perspective distortion. This made the cloth sit a bit better on the clothing. The bottom was made aslo with the ring3d tool but with a the coverage value set to 120 degrees.

:small_orange_diamond:The halo was made with zspheres using ken b's brilliant method which is described

here

The cloths texture is three textures in one. The bottom is a scan of a potato bag,
a grunge map was then applied over the top in photoshop and extra wear and tear was added in zbrush with the materials I added a low value, high dynamic range setting to almost all of the, It can really give the the image a ‘kick’ that would not work if you just turned up the specular.

:small_orange_diamond:added ramble

I was not really participating in the forum for the past month, I only realy did a bit of lurking. The posts that I read I recognised that the old quality vs quantity, or eagerness to post. I myself recently became victim to the eagernes to post bug, because I was so excited about the 1.5 features that I had just learnt, I wanted to move on from this work in about an hour and punch out a few other works I had in my head. The picture below was going to be the finished image. So quantity vs quality, would you have rather seen the below work and 5 other works of similar quality or the above, finished work. That my two cents on the issue.

Wauu Paul !! Good first work into Z 1.5!! Very Impressive ! I like all of this !!
Tnx for sharing your tecnique!!
I see forward to other images !!! :+1:

Naturally I prefer the finished scene, the clothing is very good!.

I’ve also very recently started to try out some “full” scenes instead of quick ones like, head, body, sword, tree etc. I think those are still very good exercises for building up confidence to make for example a full character study with all the clothing and accesories(sp) needed. A complex scene can easily become overwhelming, or atleast my first attempts at it was.

Nice to see you full at it Hitch! You seem to have it well under control. Love the touches with the clothing!!

Awesome!
I am REALLY glad to see your having fun with your new 1.5…lol.

Wonder Step by step too.

:+1: :+1: :+1: Terrific character hitch. Using rings for clothing - fantastic idea, and very well done. Overall, this is a fresh, fun, and skillful piece of work.

Really cool, looks like you’ve got to grips with 1.5 very quickly.

Did you use masks and inflate/deflate to model the eye/eyelids?

Curious

Thanks all for the kind replies
Lobo69: thats pretty much how I did It, execpt I used the offset filter instead, then about 50 smooth deformes, and it needed a bit of glow brush after snapping.

You have certainly caught up and passed me  Great image, and thanks for the tip regarding the eyelids, I was about to ask the same question :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent work hitch :+1: a potato bag? cool! I like just about everything in this piece, and is always good to just make and image o experiment with stuff
