I came across artist Paul Richards who has done concepts for several major game titles. He gave me permission to use some of his Quake Marine concepts to create this piece for my portfolio. I’m currently in the high poly stages and will take it down to low poly game res mesh later. I’ve been using ZB for the cloth, body sculpt, and basic mesh blocking before hard surface modeling. This isn’t a great render for the cloth on his pants as I smoothed a lot of edges to get it to render on my dinky laptop, and they still need a lot of work. I’ll post some ZB renders here soon. Still very WIP. Cheers

Nice modeling The character looks short imo - like a grownup child, his head is big, and his body, whith his arms and legs, small.
cherub the friendly buzzer
if anything i’d say his neck seems a little long maybe scale down the head a little, but other than that i would say it is amazing
Yeah, the neck sorta stuck out to me as well. Other than that, I really like it. I like the small little pockets he has, lol. Too small for anything really but I like them
thanks for the crits and comments guys. i think the focal length on the last render really distorted his proportions a bit. also, his armor does add to making them look weird too, and i’ve tried to adjust for that as much as possible without dismantling the very existance of human anatomy. i do totally agree about the neck, but i’m going to try and make it a bit wider first and see if that helps before totally moving his whole head down further.
i brought in the rest of my pieces to zb and sculpted in the under armor shirt. i really need to give these pants some love on the wrinkles and add some mass to them, as well as define the hands better and work on the arms some more. really wanting to bang the crap out of this armor with some fast mallet action. i’ll have a better update this weekend. sleepy time…

not sure what you did, but now it looks a lot better, i would like to see you go through with beating up the armor, wear and tear really adds to any model.
Dude thats fine work indeed… top totch…
Very nice work! I like your attention to detail
Here are some images of the final sculpt decimated out of ZBrush and rendered in Max.

Very nice work! I like the Suit of Armor.
Nice detail…good job!
Very tight and clean
Good work …i like the torso and the head but i dislike the legs .Maybe a better posing and some extra work to the cloth will help.
Good stuff anyway.
