QRemesher - solid geometry?

Watching one of the videos on Z classroom for insert mesh and he has a zombie model sliced up into poly groups. He takes the arm poygroup and used Qremesher to retopo it to clean up some unwanted slices. When he does it the model appears to remain hollow. When I do it Qremesher makes a solid cap on the ends of the portion of the model I had hidden and visible.

Is this a new “feature”?

I have turned off any group options in the interface I can find. But it seems to always make the model solid.

Watched it a couple of times and can not see anything he is doing different than me.
