A spooky month has arrived, and this pumpkin is finally ready to go munching on this year’s Halloween. After selling my soul to the pumpkin lords and giving up a lot of my free time, I can proudly say that this original character is fully completed.
I was inspired by Kevin Cassidy’s pumpkin creature and its mythology, so I made one of my own to participate in the great hunt for the pumpkin abominations he crafted. The Pumpkin Menace lingers in the woods, keeping an eye out for any potential threats and marching on the front lines if there are any. It must not be tampered with because once the eye glows, his brute nature will be enough to kill.
The pumpkin head design was heavily influenced by Dan Peacock’s doodle, so a special thanks to him. The high poly was done in Zbrush, Retopo/UV in Maya, Baked and Textured in Substance Painter, and lastly the final rendering and presentation were done in Arnold and Composited in Photoshop. This is the cinematic scene I created for this character, and I hope you enjoy it!
Cheers~
