prototypes for 3d print

I come here most days, but dont usually post stuff, thought I would share my latest creations.

they are all designs for toys/miniatures and are printed 34mm tall, so there is no fine detail like pores on skin, and the anatomy is odd at times, heads and hands particularly must be bigger for detail to show at the finished size, other parts are also exagerated, stitchlines on clothing that sort of thing, its all developed for the scale not to look “real”

the only image of a printed version I have at the moment is this one, she was printed at 54mm the second image is the digital sculpt and the third image is the resulting cast painted.

You say it’s for 3D printed figure. Seem to be very great even if the figure are small. Good job.

I have a question too, i see you sell them. How it’s possible to sell them a this price, is definitely not expensive. The 3D print are expensive usually.

as they came:

I dont sell the original prints, I use the prints to make molds using vulcanise rubber then cast white metal copies of them, its the copies that we sell.

I use envisiontec to create my prints, I use nettfab software to fix the .stl files after export from zbrush, and sometimes cadspan help me by fixing things I cant quite repair myself.

the average cost per figure is £200-250 just for the 3Dprint. but they are very fine detail and able to withstand the molding process enough to make a good impression, the print is actually ruined when we make the mold, they never come out whole from the mold sadly, but the metal replicas are as you can see identical and carry all the detail.

I should point out that I do sculpt with the moldmaking in mind, so I make sure it will cast, and fill gaps that would interfere with elements of the figures kit, like on the cleric, the beard was required to fill a gap rather than as part of the figures look, fortunately it works ok with the figure.

This is great stuff. It looks like the build lines from the printing are almost non-existent. Do you have to do a lot of sanding or cleanup work once they are printed?

that photo of the fat dude print is the print as it came to me before clean up, so no not much at all. the support elements are easily removed as the printer prints the supports softer than the main figure.

on this guy there were 2 “bad” print lines and they arnt so bad, a light file and its gone.

Love the 3DPrints from the Perfactory. They have done well to minimise support structure and keep sand paper away. Looks like photosilver material?
