projection master -painting with textures in v3?

In Zbrush 2 when using projection master I could use many of the tools such as the 3d plane as well as the other tools to apply textures

With v3 I only seem to be able to paint with texture with the directional brush.

Is there something I need to do before being able to use the tools to paint or apply with textures or is this method outmoded by polypainting?

I’m a creature of habit -some of them bad. Polypainting scares me

It’s taken me 3 months to get around to asking this question as I keep on flipping back to ZB2:-)

ZBrush 3 Naive

That’ll be a no then?

It looks like it, unless some good soui found a workaround. I really liked the way you could texture with the little trick: Texture mapped Plane with Z off.

I hope they are going to bring that back in Z4.

The stuff i did in PM before i do ZApplink now. Which works great, just don’t like the constant back and forth between 2 different apps.

And don’t be scared, those little Polys just LOVE a little color here and there

dsoellbuster thank you for your kind reply. Now I am no longer in the dark. That functionality really is gone?!! Seems a real shame particularly if hi polys are not One’s thang but also a shame because it was a great way to be able to texture in a way that offered so many possibilities particularly with modifying tools on the fly in combination with texture maps .

I find myself clutching my heart and doing that stagger they were so fond of in silent movies - when the evil landlord had come to collect the rent.

Unfortunately unlike in the movies I cannot offer sexual favors for reprieve.
Or maybe I can?!!

Thanks again.
yours sobbingly

You can do the same (and more) in 3.x by selecting the texture in the ‘Tool:small_orange_diamond:Texture Map’ sub palette (not in the Texture palette).
This enables you to assign a different texture to each sub tool, resulting in a Multi-Mesh/Multi-Textured tool.

For 2.5D tools (such as the Simple Brush) you simply select the texture in the Texture palette.

lol you learn new stuff everyday  Thank you support!! I really didn’t think of that.

Just to clarify, doing it like that, transfers the texturing done in Projection Master into a texture map, that can then be applied as polypaint, right?

Aha , very cool!!

Thank you so much support, and if I want to adjust the repeat values of the textures etc on the default tools I'm using to apply color/pattern I can adjust this using the uv map dialog window under the polypaint dialog - great stuff!!

Thank you so much for clearing this up Support.

I love you Support!!
