Projection Master Drop Wierdness...

Hi all,

1500 point mesh…exported from Maya…with good UVs (no overlap, nice layout)
2048x2048 texture.
Painting away in PM…it’s all good.

Drop. Ah…

When I drop the texture, I always view the results in Flat mode to check for bad blends. What I found today is darkened polys… I went back into PM and painted over them…Drop…they’re back! I can’t get rid of them!

When I paint over, the paint stays, but there’s a Multiply/Additive effect or similar being applied when I drop. You can see this in the dark areas on the image. This effect is spread across the rest of the model also …

Previously, the model had higher level subdivisions, but I deleted them since. Can’t imagine why they’d break anything at the base level…

Any ideas?

Is Shaded turned on in PM? If so, then it’s also picking up colors from the lighting on the model rather than just the colors that you’re painting.

Afraid not - that would be too simple

I initially thought this might be the case too, but on review the only mode active is color. Even if Shade were selected, I doubt it would explain the precise per-face (or rather, per UV since these self-shading areas are actually within UV borders) coloring.

Below is the same sample area with various colors applied … as you can see, full-luminance colors are fine, it is only where all RGB values are less than 255 that it shows through…

aurick and his single replies.

The next thing to consider would be the model’s UV’s. What does it look like when you press Tool :small_orange_diamond: Texture :small_orange_diamond: Uv>Txr or Uv Check?

With respect, I answer (or at least try to answer) more questions on ZBC than any other member. However, I must also try to draw a line or risk the Questions and Troubleshooting Forum turning into “Ask Aurick”. I also have many other duties beyond ZBC.

In short, I do my best but there are limits.

aurick, I understand and you don’t have to answer all of the questions, just mine  LOL

I appreciate your help as does the rest of the community. If there ever was a man, you are the man.

Again, thank you for your attention.
