projection brush help [Answered]

Hi,

My first time posting, so hope this makes sense. I’m trying to use the zprojection brush but the only problem I have is that after I place my background image and import my obj, portion of the obj gets stuck behind the image so I can’t project the entire image onto my geometry. I tried it with a simpler geometry like a sphere and it works fine …but it doesn’t work for the actual geometry that I need. Any idea why?

I even when under the display menu and selected “double” but it still doesn’t work.

Any help would be helpful. Thank you.

If you “reference” image is the background you need to drop the tool to the canvas…steps…

  • leave edit mode > T
  • enter move mode > W
you should see a gizmo pop up
  • drag off of the mesh forward or backward (This will move your mesh forwards or backwards in Z)

The Image Plane plugin will position a background image well behind a model in Edit mode so that it isn’t clipped. The plugin also allows you to store different views (model positions and images) for when you are modelling from reference images.

If you are using the ZProject brush note that there is an issue in ZBrush 4R2 which means that it does not work with transferring color. Transferring sculpting information is OK.

If you want to use a photograph to provide color for your model then consider using SpotLight instead. See here:

Thank you!! exactly what I needed!
