projecting zDepth and texture at once?

hi, I need a quick hint to a quick question.

I am using ProjectionMaster and I want to paint on my object color + Z information. therefore I created a diffuse and an alpha texture in photoshop. now but in PM I can only use the alpha texture but not my color texture, because the object gets a Texture preassigned where I paint onto. but how can I paint not only with alpha, but with texture too?

thx

If I understand what you’re doing, you need to convert the alpha to depth before you drop the model with PM. You would do this by applying the alpha to your model and then using Tool>Masking>Mask by Alpha. Now apply a bit of deformation (such as inflate) through the mask to get the depth you want. Clear the mask.

Now when you paint with PM you can paint both depth and color. Make sure that Color and Deformation are both active in PM’s settings.

After you’re all done, you can change your depth back into an alpha by pressing Tool>Masking>Mask by Cavity and then Tool>Masking>Create Alpha.
