projecting cavity maps

is there a way to project a cavity map from one object to another, similar to the way you do with projecting normal maps?

You could do it through polypaint. What you’d do is apply the cavity map to the model as texture, then convert it to polypaint. Now load your other model as a subtool and fill it with base color. Make sure that Draw>Rgb is on and Zadd is off. Now use Tool>SubTool>Project All to project the polypaint from one model to the other.

This will only work well if the two models are pretty similar in shape and size. Otherwise you’d need to use the ZProject brush instead.
