project:bag

Hello! this project is born from the failing, of poor end, of others: with the exception of the skull, each time I miss what I have expected, or didn’t finish the drawing, or forget, time passing, what I had in mind when beginning, each time so, ther was parts which was ok, or not so bad… one head, one part or one another; so I put all this parts in a folder “bag”, and yesterday, i began to put all of them on a canvas, and make the “group” picture… so the main reason is like in cooking: use the remaining… ther is also one another: I think that often, 3d works are, with characters, showing just one or two elements… something like in low budget french movie of the fifties, the fall of roman empire with 20 persons… so I have been to try to handle an “heavy” pict… before pixols, it must be here, with subdivision levels, something like 6 or more millions polys… it’s few to say that only zbrush can handle such things…everything is zbrush execpt the robot witrh eyes on the left, and ther is post work painted: hands, and little hair… best render has been with 9 rays, in 20 minuts… nice little program, uh?.. amitiés (friendly) .M.

i join the models, just after snapshot, but before further modelling and adding things, in 2.5… not a lot of difference, as you see…

Marcel great scene and the individual model are also great¡¡ No words can resume my admiration¡¡¡

Fabulous collection; with very endearing placement and proportions! Do you view this with recognition… as a pseudo schizophrenic self portrait perhaps?, the low lurking lizards tail returning from the left, did you consider it? Maybe that would have been too cliché.

I like this very much!

Well, that’s the best recycling of “left-overs” I’ve come across - in cooking or ZBrush! :+1: :+1:

The dragon looks like something out of Froud, but the one that tickled me most is the cheeky looking chap on the left with his arms folded - he so reminds me of one of my senior programmers from a few years back who was always the joker.

great image marcel, the master of shadows
and the material on the coffee pot(or whatever it is)care to share? :+1:

I like this Marcel a lot, and I agree with Flycatcher. For some reason, it is that character that stands out most but I do not know why.

This is VERY GOOD Marcel, Magnificent!

Many Blessings

Nice assembly Marcel. A whole bunch of more
or less proud characters, each one telling a
different story, about themselves, their own
state of mind and their creator as he was
giving them (3d) life. They all carry your
spesific watermark and they are all well
designed.
Hope to see many more of the clan!
Keep up the good work!

Magnificent piece of work, lots to be proud of
Are these the members of the Zbrush Forum?

marcel, really nice composition! all of these characters have really unique personalities. i love the way you go from untextured 3d models to that final piece! i especially like that big guy on the top right. how did u get those shadows, like the one from the dagger? is it just hand painted?

Cool site!

Magnificent Marcel!!
Each model has it’s own character and background. You can read a book of characteristics about each model by reading their body language and pose. MAGIC STUFF!!

I’ve always really liked your illustrations because you have a terrific gift of telling a story the incorporates a narrative background as well as mastering the software to accomplish this. You have really “raised the bar!”
Keep up the good work! :+1:

Upham

Salut Marcel,
i’m envious about your skill, because you are a great modeller and at the same time a great painter…
tout ca c`est trop pour moi

Hi marcel ,
you know what I love about your work marcel :)…you can trasform a simple looking model of a face or body into a vibrant and lively creature or human, that is in the painting stage after you have modelled the character.
Simply stunning work…it was just wonderful to sift through all the different characters, expressions and stances…I would love it if you could post a large poster size of this image…I would love to print it out on the plotter at work and hand it on my wall :)?

thanks again for posting your work I really enjoy viewing your work every single time no matter what it is!!

all the best

The first man from the left side of the photo reminds me of the personification of the man from “wallace and groomit”  (probably i’m makin lots of spelling mistakes and more, sorry)
