project all issue with holes

Hey all - this is a common problem, but I wonder if anyone has a work around.

When projecting details from one mesh to another that has holes (ie eye sockets) I get exploding verts shooting off into space around the holes. Sometimes you can use Smooth to get the stray points back into place, but it is really annoying. Other times there is no fix.

Any workarounds? I also wonder if GoZ will compeltely eliminate this issue.

Cheers,

Matt

before you project store a morph target at the subD level you’re going to project at.

after the projection (spikes in holes and such) switch the morph target to it goes back to the smoothed pre-projection mesh.

mask off areas where there are problems (behind ears, nose, inner mouth, eyes, etc). Then take the morph brush and go over the entire model to bring back the projection detail.

Then just resculpt the areas where the spikes were being generated.

Thanks for this! Just realized I had not thanked you for solving a huge headache for me.

Cheers,
Matt

No problem. Happy to help.
