Project All and Layers

Is there a way Project a detailed mesh with layers onto another base mesh and transfer the layer info as well?

I think “project all” analyses the overall shape without taking in to account 3D layers, so in that respect no.

Perhaps a workaround would be to project one layer at a time on to fresh 3d layers of the tool you are projecting on too?

hey mr.Krentz the only way would be to export each hires object and choosing that individual layer for that mesh so you would have to export 3 different meshes and reimport as a morph target in to the mesh you trying to transfer the details to or you could project all each object separately to your mesh and then make a new layer an reimport your 2nd high res object you saved out earlier and right that to a new layer. really there’s not an easy way to do it but it is possible with a little bit of planing. i hope that helps a little.

heres what im trying to say if it didn’t come out right.

1.) export each of your individual layer as high res objects
2.)then import the first layer object.
3.) append the object to your new poly mesh.
4.) make a new layer
5.) then hit project all in the subtool pallet, there some sliders that you can use to configure your projection based on the difference with each object you saved out and the amount of deformation it has from the original. this may take a few times depending on how good you want your results to be there may be some cleanup where polygons are intersecting.
6.) then make another layer.
7.) import you second layer object you imported earlier and append it to your mesh.
8.) and project that on to the newly created layer.
9.) then do the same as you have done already with your last object from layer three.
10.)then you should have all your layer information you wanted from your previous mesh transferred to your new mesh.

i hope that explains it a little better…
