Process Question - Answered

I often use displacement maps based off of my texture to sculpt my model which sometimes is fine but often I want to just use certain areas of that map.

Does anyone know of a way to just paint certain areas to bring out of the map?

I use layers a lot as well as morph targets but I often don’t seem to have access to the layer I want to paint in or out. I wish I could have multiple morph targets.

Can anyone think of a tool that might help me out?

In 4R2 you can use the Surface Noise feature found under the Tool>Surface menu. That will let you load the map and use the model’s UV’s to display it on your model. Adjust the intensity, etc.

You can then mask off the parts of the model that you don’t want to be affected. The noise will immediately vanish from those areas as you paint the mask.

When satisfied you can convert the surface noise to actual geometry if you’d like.

See the New Features PDF found in the ZBrush 4R2\Documentation folder.

cool, i’ll try that, thanks!
