Problems with ZRemesher

Hi,

I am trying to zremesh a full body mesh. I used the “Use Polypaint” option and painted the hands of my model with red color, so that these get a higher poly count than the rest of the body.

I tried to fiddle with the ColorDensity but the result is not really usable. I don’t get a real feeling for this slider. No matter in what direction I move it, I always get an unusable result.

Also I always get this “turned” middlefinger, despite making sure that everything is correct before ZRemeshing (checked Normals, no open holes, DynaMeshed and Decimated the model before ZRemeshing, …)

I never had such problems with R6, so for me R7 is not really an improvement :frowning:

Hi Patrick.

I’m no ZRemesher expoert, but if that’s the result when you paint red, something odd is going on.

Unless perhaps you are simply not giving it enough polys to play with?

Here’s the result of a remesh on ‘HumanMaleAverage’ at 5K polys target with the hand painted red. ‘Adapt’
and ‘Use Polypaint’ enabled. Granted, that’s a low poly mesh to start with.

BTW. I think the color density slider is simply a quick way to set the paint color. It has no effect on the
actual remesh operation. You use it to set the paint color, then paint, when done, hit remesh.
