problems with topological masking (transpose)

I have problems trying to mask the zones to be trasposed, i’m in edit mode and with the rotate button pressed, then i press shift and i start to draw but nothing is masked, and it appears the action lie (with the three little yellow circles, not the only yellow line that appears with the topological masking).
Help please!!

Cheers from Spain!

Use Ctrl instead of Shift

Richard

CTRL not shift

yes, i writted wrong the post, I use Ctrl, and I have the problem…
Any idea??

It’s strange because in all the videotutorial that i’ve seen, people make the topological masking and in the brush tool they still have the current brush (standard, move, pinch, whatever…) selected, and in my case, when I start the topological masking my current brush change to transpose (with the action line icon drawed).

Now works sometimes but is not masking with flow, and the most of times I have problems for mask correctly.
Maybe masking for transpose It’s a secret art or something…I don’t know.
You guys mask for transpose with ease, or have troubles like me??
Thanks!

I have the same issue and you don’t have any official answer since several weeks, so that’s probably a bug with 3.5.

Not answering is like the bug doesn’t exist.

I have 2 subtools and it works with one but not with the other, it’s a little bit annoying.
I tried to assign uvs but doesn’t resolve the issue.

honestly both of your descriptions are too vague, a picture would explain so much more.
also in 3.5r3 transpose is now added as a brush, this is why your other brushes disappear, i would suspect that you can now use some of the brush settings to adjust transpose but i’m not sure.
lastly i use transpose intensely and have not run into any problems with it.
what does your topology look like, this will greatly effect the way transpose works?

I am just using transpose as it should be used.
Ctrl+click on my mesh and it mask everything without bothering about topology.
On a unified skin mesh it works, even if because of the topology the masking feature is useless, but on a simple mesh made from a box with several extrude it doesn’t.
That’s all.

Ok, I found the problem.

I don’t know how it happens but I had 2 meshes ontop of each others.
But I really don’t know when this duplication happened, I’m pretty sure that I haven’t done this while exporting from maya but I can’t affirm that it is linked to zbrush.

I will triple check next time.

So, if when you are using topology masking with transpose tool and it seems to do nothing or if you are seeing artefacts while using it, check if you don’t have two meshes ontop of each others.
