I’ve hunted around for a few weeks and couldn’t find a good solution to this, so I’m apologizing in advance if its a pretty n00b question and I just missed it
Anyhow, when using the move brush is there a way to constrain it to an axis like most other apps seem to do?
I want to use the move brush to tweak my models, but its really frustrating to grab a vertex and move it a bit to the left, only to have it move an inch into the canvas instead.
I’ve tried using the snake hook tool but I can’t figure out what settings it takes to get it to behave similarly for single vertex.
Perhaps there is a better way to approach it. Say I have a perfect square, and I want to elongate just a single side by a bit. In most other 3d programs I’d find my side view, select both vertices and drag them to the side.
In Zbrush I use the move tool set to 100% intensity and 1 range, and when I try to move one of the corners it moves to the side, but also gets set to some arbitrary point in the middle. Then I have to turn the camera and pull it back out - but then it arbitrarily pushes it a bit into the canvas, ruining my initial move. Quite literally I’ve sat here for 10 minutes trying to do this simple operation without any success.
I know you can toggle X, Y and Z to force a constraint there, but it seems like a way must be possible to constrain it to your current X/Y and just ignore the depth of the view. Maybe not.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me with.
