Problems when importing hard surface modle from Rhino to Zbrush

Hello!

I’m an absolute beginner at Zbrush. Now I have a problem, it’s probably an easy fix, if you know how to do.

I’ve made a logo in Rhino with a lot of sharp edges and now I want to insert this logo into a model that I’ve made in Zbrush.

I’ve tried to import the file as .obj. Everything looks okay at first. But when I try to divide the mesh (with smt), the edges fail, the surfaces that where previously connected has now been sepatrated.
The same happens when don’t divide and try to smooth with a brush instead.

When I use dynamesh on the model, the problem with the edges disappear. But unfortunately, the letters on the logo becomes connected, and the holes in the A:s and the D:s disappear. The problem with the holes in the A:s and the D:s is still there even if the model has over 2 million polygons.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

It could be that the edges are not welded. Try tool-geometry-modify topology-weldpoints. Also in the same menu mesh integrity check and fix.

Thanks for the tip!
First when I tried to weld the points, inte didn’t work very well. Some faces from the letters disappeared. I don’t know why though. Any ideas?
Somehow I got the welding to work in the end thought.

It is also relevant the distance settings when welding as too large distance will make parts disappear and too short will do nothing.
Check also the mesh integrity. There is also the possibility that some faces flip, you can double check it in tool -> display properties where you can see double face or flip.

In the worse scenario you could be sending to Zbrush a geometry that is not clean enough for Zbrush. Some cad programs have lots of overlapping geometry, open holes etc that are not of the taste of of Zbrush. Also most of the time they are full of triangles and thin long faces that can not be subdivided. It is always possible to do dynamesh but you will need a very high resolution to avoid losing any accuracy.

Thank you. Very helpful!
