Make sure the Wacom service is running. If you don’t know how to check then:
Click Start button then Run (see below), then type in services.msc and click OK. Scroll down to “TabletServiceWacom” and make sure it says “Started” in the Status column and Automatic in the Startup Type column. If it doesn’t say that, then double click “TabletServiceWacom” and select Automatic from the Startup Type then, under Service status, click Start button to start the service. Close Services dialog after service has started.
If the service was already started and on automatic startup and your Preferences > Tablet settings are still greyed out, then go to Wacom.com and make sure you have the latest drivers installed.
*If you don’t see the “Run” button on the Start menu then:
1. Open the Start Menu.
2. Right Click on a empty space on the Start Menu and select Properties.
3. Click on the Start Menu Tab and click on Customize.
4. Scroll down and put a check in Run Command box and click OK.
