problems importing a basic mesh from 3dsmax

Hi i am following a tutorial where i had to retopologise a mesh.
So this is what i did: i made a mesh in zbrush from zspheres, exported it to 3dsmax to change some of the topology, spent a lot of time making sure to have only quads, and when i import it into zbrush zbrush alters my mesh in strange ways.
i tried deleting half of the mesh and remirroring it in 3dsmax, but the mesh gets messed up in the exact same ways when i import it in zbrush again.
i exported the mesh as an obj. from 3dsmax using the standard zbrush settings

this is my editable poly mesh in 3dsmax

I’m using 3dsmax 2010 64bit and zbrush 3.5 R3
Hopefully someone knows what’s going on here.

1st one is because it has 5 edges. You either import tris or quads. Anything more is bad. Though tris isn’t very good either.
Anything that has more than 4 edges will be triangualted/quadrified.

Thanks for the tip, i thought i only had 4 edges on his back, aparently not, anyway i changed the topology and it flows better now. the other problem at the head was because i had two verteces overlapping witch were nt connected to each other, welded them together and i now have a clean basemesh.
thanks again
