So, I realize this is zbrushcentral and this problem I have is related to maya but since it deals with a normal map from a high res zbrush sculpt I did, I figured SOMEONE must have encountered the same problem. In any case, I have 2 machines I work on(home and work). Both have 8800 GTX cards. At home, I can see my character great with high quality rendering on…the normal map, diffuse, and spec work great. At work though, with high quality rendering on, my mesh goes transparent. I have tried creating the maya file from scratch with an exported obj of my character…no dice. I tried updating my nvidia drivers…nada. I have no idea why my computer at home works and the one at work doesn’t. The main difference between the 2 systems is that the one at work is XP with 2gb RAM and the one at home is Vista with 4gb of RAM…though I don’t think that should matter. Anyone have a solution for how I can fix this on my work computer? Thanks!
Sounds like DirectX issue to me. I think XP uses DX9 and Vista uses DX10.
