Problem with the dimmed color of the subtools not selected (newbie)

Hi.
This is my first question in this forum. Be kind with me.

I have a sculpted model in zbrush. It has subtools for every part (head, body, helm etc.)
I’m using the standard redwax matcap.

I want to make a few renders of this model in Zbrush.
So I place the model in the document. Deactivate “Edit mode” and click the “best” option to render it.

Everything works but I have a problem.
Since the model is composed of subtool only one of the subtool is bright red.
All the others subtoola (the non-selected ones) are darker the the selected subtool.

I though that once the model is “dropped” on the canvas all the colors could be the same. Instead the selected subtool at the moment i drop the model remains brighter.

I found a solution. I paint white all the document. The black background remains black and the model became bright red.
But when I change the render option to flat I see that I painted everywheere also on the background.

That’s sad because I use the flat option to extract analpha mask of the model. instead I cannot use it anymore because is messed up.

I’m asking you:

  1. I there a way to see all the subtools of the same color?
  2. Is there a way to paint on the document only on the 3d model and not on the empty background color in flat mode?

Thanks.

Ohh…no one want to help me?
Maybe y english is so bad that no one undestand me.
I’m sorry about it

preferences>edit>inactive subtool dimming.
change that.

Ooooh! Thank you really Goast666!

I have no idea that there was a setting about it!
I though that there was only a special “workflow” to avoid the problem.

You are great!

Today I discovered that the dimming settings cannot go over 0.9!

it means that sub tools not selected will always be a little bit darker.

I asking myself how is it possible to exit “edit mode” with all the subtool of the same color.

Probably no one use Zbrush to render! Or maybe nobody renders tools with subtools.

If you fill all the subtools with white then they will lose their dimming. You can use the SubTool Master plugin for doing this (see the Download Center).
See here for more information:
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/SubTool_Master_Pop-Up_Interface#Fill

Another way is to render the model using the HD Render All plugin. (This will also render HD Geometry if you’ve used it but you don’t need to have done so.)
This plugin is also available from the Download Center.

I have subtoolmaster but I didn’t know that filling a subtoolremove the dimming.

Thank you really!

I feel the need of a seriously-well-done help file in zbrush!
I miss so many inormations…so many…more I learn more thing I need to know…it’s an endless process…

Thank you for the info about the HD render…I don’t use Hd sculpting so I didn’t use this plugin. I will check it.

His first question!! quick get the Tar and feathers!!!

just kidding

Zbrush is not a program in which you can view 1 or 2 tutorials and read a few tech docs and be able to master it. Even if you are proficient in other 3D tools. it takes time to wrap your head around. so few tools use this kind of workflow and process. Just about everything else out there is a box modeler… (shudder).

If you like Zbrush I recommend a great program called Silo. it has a similar feel to its modeling. It’s also very cheap by comparison… 100$ to 160$ USD range.

I love spaghetti western!

I’m a Modo user already. No need for Silo.

I opened another thread yesterday with another question. If someone of you can answer also to my other thread I really appreciated.

Sorry for my english. Bye
