Problem with merging objects

I have been struggling for hours trying to figure out how to merge the hand and the arm in ZBrush (in the red box) so that the topology will flow. Unify mesh makes the mesh too messy and editing the topology manually is too hard since of the complexity of the objects and non-uniformity between the parts (cannot go down in sub divisions either). So any help would be appreciated, this is causing me one major headache.

PS. I have a few copies of the model: body on its own with no hands, hands only and what not.

unified skin, or manual retopo are your options.

Judging by the complexity of the topo, how long would a retopo take?

Another thing I tried was actually remeshing the entire creature, then projecting all. But again, its welding that I am upto. Unified skin produces a really ugly, artifacty mesh though.

Thanks for the reply.

retopo can take a half hour to 4 hours depending on the complexity and your understanding of good topo and the workflow required to generate a new mesh.

I personally use 3dcoat for retopo and from what I can see of your mesh that should be 45min or so.

thanks for the info beta.
