Problem with MatCap Baker on 4R8

Hey guys

I have a strange issue - I found the matcap baker plugin and installed it on 4r8 as i thought it might be a help for texturing assets.
It works as it should - only upside down!
For example, I’m making a ladies heeled boot… As we expect the default lighting in the viewer on the boot is as normal, (top down) as opposed to being lit from underneath, that would be inverted. That is what is happening to my matcaps!!
I bake them out, they look ok but when I place the resulting textures on the model - all the shadows are on the upper areas, as if the thing was lit from underneath…

I have tried rotating the model, rotating the uv’s and so on, trying to trick it into lighting from above but all fails.

here are some images:

as you see, the 1st boot gives an idea of how light might work normally and the other- shows how the result of matcap baker using gold matacap. It seems to rely on light from underneath… it’s driving me crazy because I want to use this trick, but it is in opposition to any AO maps i might make, shadow - wise.

Can anyone help?

Will.

At me too so. Have you solved the problem?
