Problem with hard surfaces?

Hey guys i can’t seem to do hard surfaces for the life of me. I use masks, i use the new mPolish brush, I’ve tried flatten, but no matter what i do my lines never come out smooth. They are always wavy and i can’t fix them. They end up like this:

Can anybody help me out with some information or a tutorial on making cuts into things like armor or smoothing the result or anything like that? I could like to make clean separations in say armor plates or in this case the lining of a vest.

if you are using 3.5 R3 use the Hpolish and trim brushes the end of the second to last row in the default brush palette. there are also some helpful brushes in the lightbox that are not shown in with the defaults. good luck.

Cool thank you i will try that

I’ve been using the Flatten brushes you’ll find in the first row, and found them quite useful to make hard surfaces. But you should also pay attention to the topology, as this can also make your sculpting difficult. To solve that you can either make a new topology, or increase the subd if your computer can handle it.
